Theme: The Wedding At Cana, Have You Invited Jesus?

Good day, brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, I want to share one of the most beautiful stories in the Bible, the wedding at Cana. It was a family gathering so Jesus’ mother attended, as well as Jesus and his disciples were invited to attend the wedding party.
The Bible says it was at Cana that Jesus performed His first miracle.
Imagine a wedding feast in your small community or family gathering full of joy and celebration—but then, suddenly the food runs out. The wine runs out. As the host, you are responsible and put in a difficult and shameful situation in front of your guests.
It was no different in this story. But the good news is that Jesus was invited to the party. What happens next teaches us how Jesus can turn our lack into abundance and our shame into joy.
In Jewish culture, weddings were grand celebrations that lasted several days. The host was responsible for ensuring plenty of food and wine. Running out of wine wasn’t just embarrassing—it could damage the family’s name and reputation.
In John 2, Mary notices the problem and turns to Jesus. Though Jesus initially responded that His time had not yet come, Mary’s faith in Him didn’t waver. Because Mary knew already who Jesus was from the very beginning. She told the servants, "Do whatever He tells you." What happened next was extraordinary: Jesus instructed the servants to fill six large stone jars with water. When they drew it out, the water had turned into wine—and not just any wine, but the best wine.
What are the lessons that we can learn from this story?
- Jesus Can Transform Lack into Abundance
In life, we sometimes face situations where we feel like we don’t have enough—enough resources, energy, or even faith. Running out of wine in Cana was a symbol of insufficiency. But when Jesus stepped in, He transformed the lack into an overflow.
Imagine a struggling parent who barely makes ends meet. They wonder how they’ll provide for their children. But when they trust in God, they often find unexpected blessings: a kind neighbor, a new job opportunity with a high salary, or strength they didn’t know they had.
Have you invited Jesus into your Cana? He specializes in turning scarcity into plenty. Jesus can bring transformation into every issue, financial shortfall, and work issues.
- Obedience Opens the Door for Miracles
Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus instructed. Their obedience may have seemed strange. Filling jars meant for ceremonial washing with pure water probably didn’t make sense, but they trusted her words and acted upon it. Trusting Jesus’s Word and obeying it brings miracles.
Think about a student studying for exams. Sometimes the methods their teachers recommend may seem tedious, like revising notes multiple times. Yet those who are diligent and obey often achieve great results.
Obedience, even when it doesn’t make sense, allows God to work powerfully in our lives.
- Jesus Saves the Best for the Last
The master of the banquet was astonished, saying, "You have saved the best till now." This is a reminder that God’s blessings often exceed our expectations.
Consider a couple who has faced many years of relationship struggles but, over time, sees their love deepen through God’s grace. Their relationship grows into something richer and more meaningful than they could have imagined at first.
When God works in your life, the outcome is not just sufficient—it’s abundant and excellent.
Have you invited Jesus into your Life?
- Bring Your Problems to Jesus Just as Mary brought the problem of the wine shortage to Jesus, we must bring our worries, failures, and challenges to Him. Don’t hide your struggles; instead, invite Him into them.
- Trust in God’s Timing Jesus told Mary, "My hour has not yet come." Sometimes we don’t see immediate results, but God’s timing is always perfect. Be patient and trust that He’s working behind the scenes.
- Live with Faith and Gratitude When Jesus works in our lives, He’s not only solving problems but also showing us His love and care. Let us respond by living with faith, gratitude, and a heart that testifies to His goodness.
Life, like the wedding at Cana, can sometimes run out of joy, hope, or direction. Maybe your home feels empty, your work feels fruitless, or your heart feels distant from God. But here is the good news: When Jesus shows up, everything changes.
To those who feel broken, Jesus can bring healing. To those who are ashamed, He offers restoration. To those who feel empty, He fills you with His presence. The miracle of Cana reminds us that Jesus is both able and willing to transform our lives.

Father, we thank You for Jesus, who brings transformation and abundance into our lives. Forgive us for the times we’ve tried to handle life on our own. Help us to trust and obey You, even when we don’t understand. We invite Jesus to be our silent Guest at every family gathering, our work, and schools and every shortfall in our lives. Fill the emptiness in our hearts with Your presence, and turn our lack into plenty. May we live to glorify Your name.
